Reflecting on your journey in the scope of the long-term (bonus chubby baby pics)

August 30, 2017

I've been holding out on sharing anything for a few days as I wait for some things to unfold (more on that in the future) and work on having a little patience with my efforts. With mixed results admittedly.

In between blog work I've still tried to keep on the writing train and battled writers fatigue with smaller creative projects. Even trying my hand at some wedding-related poetry, ditching the spreadsheets for a little romantic muscle stretching!

But I've also taken the time to focus on seeing close friends and family the last couple of weeks. Taking moments just to breathe, enjoy long glasses of wine and ice cream on the harbour.

Also, to reflect on long-term personal journeys and how easy it is to become too focused on the projects of the now.

When you become so focused on the future you can forget some of the small but salient lessons learnt in the chapters of your story so far.

For starters, it's important to remember where you came from and how you started off in this big, complicated world (for example, a cute little, twinkly-eyed, chubster)...

Along the way, try to learn to take the swings with the roudabouts...

Take the opportunity to spend time in the beautiful outdoors...

Observe and be curious about nature...

Always take the time to be kind to others when you...

And create a place you can call home which you can share with those around you...

And, (whether it's fiction, non-fiction or graphic novels) read books...

 Read LOTS of books...

But don't take life too seriously. Dance, skip and play when the mood strikes...

Create art like a child; non-judgemental and without hesitation...

Play instruments and sing your heart out, whether you're good at it or not...

Taking the chance to create and have fun with friends...

And simply seek small moments of joy whenever you can...

...as you let the story or your life write itself.

Coincidentally, as I write this and allow myself to relax a little more in to the slow swing of things, I receive an email about a project opportunity. Funny how things seem to happen if you let them.
